Last night the UDTS (School of the Father’s Zeal) graduated after five months of seeking God in an urban setting. It has been a joy watching them grow here in Houston. As a team they have blessed the city of Houston and our staff in many ways. Over the last 6 weeks they took their zeal to the cities of Madrid and New Orleans to spread the love of God. We pray that these students will continue to press into God for a deeper, richer relationship with Him as they part ways.

“Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” 1 Colossians 3: 14-15

Check out our new YWAM Houston video!

This weekend the YWAM Houston staff packed up and headed to Dallas for the annual YWAM Tyler Staff Conference. It is a time of fellowship and encouragement where YWAM Tyler and their satellite bases (including Houston, Chicago and New Orleans) get together for worship, teachings and plenty of time to relax. We were all so blessed and encouraged to hear from YWAM missionaries who are being commissioned all over the globe, from Africa to Asia as well as folks coming back from their travels as well. The theme of the conference was “Jesus Cares About Everything”: a broad topic that included messages on ‘The Death of the American Church’ as well as performances by a Christian Korean Opera group who performs annually at Carnegie Hall.

As we continue to keep up a busy pace in Houston, we thoroughly enjoyed the time set aside to focus on God and fellowship with one another. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we dive into the summer season!

Loved this little video created by a member of The Grove Church in Magnolia, TX. It captures our Children’s Christmas event at Street Church and includes interviews with the volunteers, attendees, and the children. As we said in some earlier posts, we had lots of gifts for the kids, a veggie tales movie, a live nativity and other fun activities. This was the first year we did the nativity and it was so fun to see the children’s reactions to the animals.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

A Thanksgiving To Remember

“Wow!” That is one of the first words that comes to mind when looking out on the 1110 Lovett parking lot on the most perfect Thanksgiving Wednesday evening. Flooded with people off the streets and from the pews, it was one fun, turkey filled night to be sure. We are always so blessed to have so many amazing volunteers come and serve with us every year for this event. We were blown away at how many wonderful people gave up part of there Holiday to come and be apart. We want to say a huge “Thank You” to all of you who came and shared the love of Jesus by serving. We served over 200 meals and had over 100 volunteers serving the snacks, drinks, meals, and deserts. We love seeing God’s people in action. We hope you had as much fun as we did and come back again next year.

14 Costco-sized bags of candy + Kim Dale preaching on Freedom in Christ = a great night at Street Church.

Last night Kim preached on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. Regardless of our outward situation we are able to find true peace and freedom when we give our lives completely to God. As John 8:36 says, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Christ came to give us abundant life. Many times we try and give ourselves material or situational freedom instead of seeking the true spiritual freedom that comes from complete submission to Christ. What a beautiful paradox!

Since Street Church also fell on October 31, we decided to provide large amounts of chocolate and sugar to adults and children alike! It was a great night of ministry, prayer and fellowship. God is doing great things on that parking lot! Thank you all for your prayer and support!

Welcome to the YWAM Houston Blog! This is where you will find up-to-date stories, photos, videos and more. Our goal is to celebrate what God is doing and to engage you in prayer for this city and those around you. Thank you so much for your love and support. If you would like to get e-mail notifications when we post, just sign up to “follow us” in the side bar. In the future we will be updating at least once each month and rotate “story tellers” so you will be able to hear from each of our staff members and perhaps some of our volunteers as well!

Galatians 6:9 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
